Staff and pupils at Moreton Hall School in Shropshire have been celebrating, after a historic set of A Level results that have cemented its reputation as one of the top academic girls boarding schools in the country. With 29% of grades awarded the prestigious A* grade and 67% of grades achieved at Grade A and A*, leavers have been able to take up their places at some of the country's top universities.
In such an outstanding year - with 50% of girls achieving straight As and A*s - it is invidious to single out individual girls, but particular congratulations are extended to Rebecca Lewis, who achieved 4 A*s, allowing her to take up her place at Cambridge. Whilst Polly Booth and Evie Snow notched up 2 As and 2 A*s enabling them to take up their places at King's College, London and Oxford respectively.
As well as the outstanding results (90% of Grades achieved were A* - B), the success of many of the students obtaining places at top universities can be attributed to the emphasis Moreton Hall places on ‘traditional' A-Levels and amongst the departments enjoying 100% success at grades A*- B were English, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Geography, History, Latin and Music.
Principal Jonathan Forster comments: "These results are outstanding in every respect and ensure that all students will be able to take their places at top universities. Students and staff deserve the highest praise for their hard work".
